Great tree. just wondering, what do you think about chopping the entire first branch, therefore increasing the length of the trunk? That trunk is so nice, i'd like to see it longer, with the greenery starting lower.. Just a thought...

regarding starting the foliage lower, i can see your insight with this one, but i love to see large canopies on junipers, and on cascades.

also, although this idea is not impossible, it would be quite difficult for me to make the decision to chop the first brach, there is a huge kink back up straight off the trunk, it's hard to see under the raffia, and it's only visible from the front view.

thanks for the input though, i never even thought of chopping the branch. it would make an interesting jin...

I wouldn't be removing the first branch. Doing so would highlight the straightness of the trunk (from the chosen front) even more.

A slight reduction maybe... maybe not. It all depends upon what the trunk looks like afterwards. I'd be careful before making that decision, especially with stock of such quality.
IMO, there's a better look in the tree by turning it as in the "right" photo. More interest and movement in the trunk and a better look at the number of jin that you can uncover and show off, below the foliage area.

<edit> Consider turning it to a point between the front and right photos, to run the trunk over the corner of the pot, giving you trunbk movement and a better look at the pot?

is there a possibility of getting an update on this tree as im interested in seeing what has happened to it
