Re: 7th National Exhibition of Australian Plants as Bonsai
Looking forward to the Australian Plants as Bonsai show. It is only one week away now.
Another couple of Victorians indicated to me just yesterday that they are coming up to see the show.
The weather from Monday to Thursday was perfect here and I hope the show has its share of great early autumn weather.

With all the AusBonsai crew heading to Canberra this weekend you had better put extra volunteers on Grant!NBPCA wrote:the erection of the signs have caused the visitor numbers to jump by 88% over the same period last week!

We are expecting a huge weekend! The numbers through the collection yesterday alone were just amazing! 100s of % over last year and recent weekends. Just amazing.Steven wrote:With all the AusBonsai crew heading to Canberra this weekend you had better put extra volunteers on Grant!NBPCA wrote:the erection of the signs have caused the visitor numbers to jump by 88% over the same period last week!

Gday Lisa, and goodonya for organizing the masses!LLK wrote:On Sat. 13 March, from 11.45 am, a table has been reserved for us at the cafe-restaurant in the Botanic Gardens, 2 steps away from the show. Any AusBonsai forum guests are welcome to join and get to know fellow forum members as well as the organisers of the show.
There will also be a dinner at the Turkish Pide House in the Jamison Centre, at 7.00 pm., to give everyone interested in native Australian bonsai a chance to discuss present and future developments. Places are limited. Please PM me if you would like to attend this dinner.
Looking forward to seeing you.... whoever you may be,
Lisa
I hope to attend the pre-lunch, but am afraid that I will be back in Melbourne by the time the dinner is on... One day is too little for an event such as the 7th Oz Native show, but one day is all I have to spare. I look forward to meeting many like-minded practitioners during my short time in the ACT.

I am not surprised Grant that is a great Sign as it can be a little confusing how to get in when you don't know the area. It took me a while to find you guys and I knew you where there. The amount of traffic past that sign would be immense.the erection of the signs have caused the visitor numbers to jump by 88% over the same period last week!
I missed your post before the black tie celebration so I thought ya's where talking about a new sign in the park

It is great watching the popularity of the collection rise.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

The Black Tie event was an opportunistic joke. No one picked up that I called the 4 piece ensemble the Canberra Sympathy Orchestra!Bretts wrote:I am not surprised Grant that is a great Sign as it can be a little confusing how to get in when you don't know the area. It is great watching the popularity of the collection rise.
It was a launch for the coming events like "Celebrate in the Park", "Symphony in the Park" ," Balloons Aloft", "Festival of the Forests" etc.
They happend to do the launch right outside our front door so I took advantage of it.
I will have to be less subtle in future when I am joking.
Anyhow last Sundays numbers were huge. Even with the rain yesterday the vistation was good.

Re: 7th National Exhibition of Australian Plants as Bonsai
I will be coming down for the day on Saturday and hope to do both the APAB Show / Meet up at 11:45 / Roger's Show at 2 pm.
And also duck in and have a look at the NBPCA while there.
Question For the locals, What will be be the best way to do this? re time to look around, and getting from one to the other ( i will be driving)
thought might be best to go to the NBPCA at Commonwaeth park, then head back across the bridge to have a look and spend the rest of the day at the APAB show.
What time does NBPCA open?
See y'all there
Ken

Hi Ken,
See http://www.cbs.org.au/index.php?option= ... &Itemid=54 and just in case the URL misbehaves, the show opens at 9.30 am. I think your plan of starting with the NBPCA and finishing at the Botanic
Gardens is a good one. Apart from the show, the gardens themselves are worth a walk around, and then, next door, you have the drive up Black Mountain with the Telecom Tower. From the top of the tower you have a prime view of the International Arboretum, where the future home of the NBPCA will be located, plus one of the most beautiful panoramic views in this region (see below).
Looking forward to meeting you,
Lisa

Re: 7th National Exhibition of Australian Plants as Bonsai
Well, I've just arrived in Canberra and dropped Melaquins and my trees at the show. Met a lot of the Local crew and was able to get a sneak peak of the exhibition. The display looks great and the quality of bonsai is very high!
The drive from Sydney only took a bit over 3 hours so it would make nice day trip for all you Sydneysiders.
I'm looking forwards to a great weekend indulging in our Nation Capitals bonsai sceen.
I'll do my best to get some pictures up on Sunday evening.
Regards,
Steven
