Entry to the garden is $10 and then the demo's all day are free as well as most of the other events going on in the garden. Hope you can make it.
Would have been great to see you there Jordy!

The weekend was an absolute blast. We over filled the seats on Saturday in the small but amazing conference room in the Cowra Japanes Garden.
Tony enthralled the public with his introduction to Bonsai. He done some great work on a few of the trees that are to be added to the Cowra Bonsai House. The Guys from the central coast such as John Batty as always had made the long trech over to man the Bonsai house for all passers buy that had any questions. The guys from West such as Andrew and Ron brang some great quality trees for the workshop and the hard workers from the East came to lend a hand. My favourite day was the workshop although I wass still running around like a chook with it's head cut off there was less people to please
Thanks Tony the AABC and all the others that made the event run as smooth as possible. I recommend to all clubs no matter how small to get in contact with the AABC about how your club can help to promote bonsai in your area.
I will get some pictures up soon ;)

There was alot of interest from the public to the introduction to Bonsai. There are at least a few new bonsai enthusiasts in this lot. I think we have cemented this as a new yearly event with the Sakura Matsuri. Combining introduction to Bonsai with more advanced stuff for the initiated.

There was plenty to see on the break :) I am not infatuated with Japanese girls Danica, this photo was for the kids

There was a great turn out for the workshop on Sunday at the Orange Botanical Garden. Due to the weather we moved into the sheltered area but Tony was still feeling the cold

The 12 of us just squeezed in :)

It was an exciting day for me as I got to uncover my root over rock juniper that I had grown out for a few years.

There was plenty of great material being worked on.

Tony did a great job on my juniper and I have a clear direction of where to take the tree over the next couple of years.

Very nice Brett it looks cold there!!.
Tony Bebb is one of the nicest and knowledgeable Bonsai people I have met.
His enthusiasm is infectious he talks at all levels of Bonsai with the same attitude. He is also a good entertainer.

I also notice he still has all of his hair. Thats one thing we don't, and a few other's share :(

Thank you a gain Brett I can see by the Cheshire cat grins you had a great weekend. :) Pup

Thanks to everyone who organised to get Tony down our way. Was great to have someone with his experience to pass on some knowledge. Looking forward to next year already....

The whole weekend did go really well with suprisingly few hitches considering it's the first time any of us have been involved in organising something like that! Brett put a huge effort in getting all Tony's arrangements sorted, so thanks again! Tony really is a great presenter and I don't think we could have had anyone better suited to the wide range of people involved. From absolute beginners at Cowra on Saturday to some really talanted and experienced people on Sunday, Tony catered to us all. Now it's time to start thinking about next year, you up for doing it again Brett????

By the way, I reckon that Juniper of yours is going to be an amazing tree! Ron Povey took a bunch of photos of the workshop on Sunday but rather than post them all I've stuck them up on a website for anyone that's interested in seeing more...

Thanks for that link Scott, I wasn't able to get there so it was good to see what was done in the workshops, looks like some quality bonsai will come from this. Tony is always good value. I bet Povey was thrilled with that group he was doing,it looked great.I heard it was very cold and windy, so I'm pleased I missed that part of it.
Cheers,
Jonden

The weather wasn't the best but I think we should be very happy it was not worse.

Just got to balance the books and I reckon we will be ready to start setting up next year to be even better. Already got the go ahead from the Cowra Japanese Garden.

Oh and keep an eye on Costa's Garden Odyssey as him and his film crew where around the gardens and took some footage of Tony's demo. I have only seen a couple of Costa's episodes but could not wipe the smile of my face the whole time.

My son thinks anyone with a beard is a bad man so he was flabbergasted by Costa. While watching Costa getting ready for a sumo fight everyone was quite except for Bailey.
"Let's get out of here Mum that's the bad man from TV he is scary like a monster"
