Hey all, collected this about 12 months. I think its a whites fig? Collected from a creek west of brisbane. Ive left 2 branches to grow long and this is the stage its at now. Just wired the centre bit with 6mm. Any advice on where to go from here would be appreciated.
I was going to wire the right side out a bit but I dont have any more wire.

Re: Fig Progression
It looks very much like a white fig (vicus virens) to me. That is an awesome base
- did you chop it when it was collected ? I find mine are slow growers - not sure if they like being in a pot.

Re: Fig Progression
I would agree with White Fig and the fact that is a great base. Great place to start. Might I suggest that with the small trunk on the right and the movement of the base I would shape the main trunk you have wired to move to the right towards the small trunk. Get some more wire and shape the small one to match but don't put too much movement in as it will not suit the species. The immediate future is prune, prune, prune as they have large leaves and don't reduce as easy as other figs. This will also develop more branches to use for shaping. I would not let it grow any taller than what you have pruned to to keep the power of the trunk.
Nice find.

Re: Fig Progression
Thanks for the replies Tony's. Heres some old photos I had. First one is pretty much how i found it growing on a rock, not really any chopping just defoliated it. Then some growth about a week later, which was red. Ill do some work on it and keep yas posted. Cheers.

Re: Fig Progression
Have just been working on this tree, did a bit of dremel carving and wired up the other branches. It had a lot of dead rotten wood around and in the base. I removed most of it but there were termites in it. Would pyrethrum get rid of termites? Or maybe try burn it with a torch?
