Risk it? Id be more worried about trying to slip it past the Mrs...
She wont notice if I take out 3 shelves and put all the food in an esky overnight.... I hope:

is your liquidamber an evergreen ?
They dont tend to colour up like the other varieties do.

I was going to suggest giving it some time in the fridge as well, but Damian beat me to the suggestion !!
Years ago when I was growing orchids, I would put ice on the pots to force blooms, its certainly woth a try.
