Post by dragon »

gday all
is it the right time to work on silver birch tree's now, like removeing soil, and root pruning and trimming tree's
as i got a clump and they are in deep soil about 4 inches deep and very root bound and i would like to clean it up a bit and repot it into a smaller pot
cheers dean :aussie:

:gday: Dean , Silver Birch is deciduous isn't it, i would wait till spring when they weather warms up, i'm pretty sure they are sensitive to root pruning aswell,
others may have more ideas, :fc:

Hi Dean

Wait till end of winter early spring when the buds start to swell but before leaves open. Can go hard then.

no problem Dean,

As a side note Dean;
Silver birch trees should receive minimal pruning, as they produce excess sap from cut wounds, and this can weaken or kill the tree if too many branches are removed.
