Repotting a Fuchsias

Post by Fred7 »

I have just purchased a Fuchsias in a plastic pot.
Was just wondering when is the best time to put it in a bonsai pot?
Also should i feed it when i re-pot it?

Best not to at this time of year. They are flowering at the moment ( mine are anyway) I do mine last two weeks in August or first two weeks in September. A very light fertilise will not hurt but there should be some in your potting mix if you are buying over the counter. They thrive on a light treatment of Complete organic and a sprinkling of Azalea food for good flowering. Be careful when root pruning as different roots feed different parts of the tree and you can get branch die off if you cut a large one. Light root pruning is best until you understand your tree better. Hope this will get you on your way.
