my first aus native.

Post by arabicabonsai »

Hi everybody,

I have retreived my first aus native from my back yard. it is a Corymbia torelliana, from what i have read they are an aus native but please do correct if i'm wrong. it is classified as a weed and has rather large leaves but from my experience they are extremely hardy, especially after i axed a million of them a month ago and not one died. so i'm gonna bonsai it. let me know what ya'll reckon.

Hey there,

Thats got a nice curvey line & a bit of size to it as well. I havent tried torelliana but do have a citriodora, it is a great grower & very hardy, it went from pot to ground & back to pot & took all the abuse well no matter when it was done. I didnt realise it had had a name change but heres a link to the thread on mine viewtopic.php?f=104&t=3826

If it survives the move from ground to pot you will have no end of fun getting it into shape. The branches will thicken very quickly if allowed to grow unchecked. Leaves reduce fantastically once you get to the refinement stages, no need to defoliate just pinch prune the new growth constantly is all thats needed.

Keep us posted as & when.
