Myrtle Rust

Post by barefoot »

Folks:
Received the Illawarra Bonsai Clubs Newsletter and read an article on Mrytle Rust.
It seems to running rampant on the NSW / QLS East Coast on Myrtacea Family (bottlebush).
Time to read up, learn about it an start increasing awareness of this fungus in our natives.

Hey Barefoot
When Pup headed east we had to look into this as we where unsure about the restrictions imposed on natives since this fungus was found.
WA to the East coast was fine but NSW to WA is out. Not sure about the other states but if it has spread up and down the east coast I guess the restriction would also include those areas.

I don't believe I have seen it on any of my trees but it has just hit home that if I do move back to WA (which is a possibility) I would not be able to take one of my most precious trees. My sons bottle brush bonsai that was given to us as a tube stock seedling when he was born, now one of my best trees :?
Also I have plans to buy a nice tree of Pup so once I bring it over it has to stay here :shake:

Anyway here is the thread about this fungus last year

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
