Celtis - lack of taper a big problem?

Post by lennard »

I got this tree July 2009:
Verklein.jpg
I chopped it a bit and tried to bring in the branches. The biggest problem for me is the lack of taper and some branches higher up that are too thick already?

I am hoping to get some buds popping in spring lower down so I can use them as sacrifice branches to better the taper lower down.

Comments and advice welcome.

this wil make a quite elegant taller tree if you ask me.
Once it all fills out you wil not notice the branch size so much.
The only one of real concern, is the second on the left. As that is on the inside of the bend, you may be able to remove it anyway and fill the space from the one above
