Yamadori first timer

Needed to remove a large lilly pilly that was growing near a stormwater pipe, so though it might be a good first subject to cut my teeth on. At the moment it looks a bit bland but it has new shoots down the bottom, and may have carving potential later on (apparently). It was about 7 y.o., base is about 200mm diameter.
Any ideas, input would be great.

Thats a 750ml water bottle next to it for scale.

Yep, definitely some carving there

I would let it get going and keep an eye on the drainage holes... Once you see a few roots poking at them slip it into a much bigger grow box and let it have its head for a while.

Cheers Matt, yep it won't be being touched for quite some time I gather, and thats fine. It just lets me get on with find more weeds to be removed.
Have 3 more to remove around the place, so will post the progress on that in the near future.

Once it really becomes re-established, I'm considering taking another 200 to 300mm off the height. What do you think? Be brutal.

You can shorten it as much as you like, the trunk is straight & boring as is. If you shorten it it wont have more interest but atleast it wont look like a powerpole in the street.

Romping away like this??? Theres a 10cm thick 12cm high stump somewhere hiding in that thicket....

Edit: whats getting out of control? The collecting? Dont worry about it, you can never have too many yamadori, they can take just as long as a seedling to bring to fruition, the more to work on the more time you can let them grow unrestrained.
