Acer Palmatum Shohin

Hi there,
This is a Palmatum that I got from a local nursery. It was 50cm tall when first bought and I thought it
would make good Shohin material eventually. It has an interesting 'Turtle back' nebari that is partially buried
at the moment and is planted in a 12cm pot with a 70/20/10 Spongalite/Peat/Coarse sand mix which I use
for most of my trees. It has been chopped drastically as you can tell and also defoliated. I'm hoping it will handle
the 'treatment' and come away from this healthy. It's planted a bit far to the right at the moment but I didnt
want to chop any more roots so that may be corrected on the next repot.
I am a bit rushed for time today so I only snapped one picture.
Please let me know your thoughts positive or negative.

Hi Distractor,
Unless some other angles show some movement in that trunk, it is dead straight and without any taper, like a telephone pole. Following the chopping you have done I would be hoping that it throws heaps of new shoots lower down on the trunk, below that scar and if a bar branch develops (where a branch grows on either side of the trunk at the same level) I would cut the trunk just above the bar branching and then repot the tree at an angle so one branch will become the new leader and the other will be the 1st branch. This would put some movement in the trunk and also improve the lack of taper. Hope this helps.
