This weekend we celebrate the second anniversary of AusBonsai which launched on 7th of November 2008. Thanks to all the great members, the forums have been, and continue to be a success - friendships have been made, digs organised, events attended, page after page of shared knowledge created and so much more. We started with the mission to facilitate a friendly, inviting forum which enhances the development of Bonsai and its practitioners, links the Bonsai community and provides a central comprehensive reference of bonsai from an Australian point of view. Again thanks to the contributing members, we are well on track to continually achieving our mission.
Since launching, AusBonsai has grown to have 1939 members, 75,168 posts and 6538 topics.
84,399 unique visitors, from 157 different countries or territories have read 3,869,567 pages of our board.
More than 800 people from around the world visit the site every day.
88.67% of daily visitors come from Australia and 38.46% of these visitors have been from New South Wales, followed by Victoria 28.67%, Queensland 16.76%, South Australia 4.91%, Western Australia 4.69%, Canberra with 3.41%, Northern Territory with 1.81% then Tasmania with 1.15%.
Despite where in this great country come from, I believe we are all here for the same reasons - We want to improve our skills, we want to know how to best care for our bonsai, where to go to get quality stock, what the best techniques for our conditions are and of course, we want to chat about our art of bonsai with like minded people. AusBonsai helps facilitate all these things but only because of the sharing nature of the contributing members.
Moving forward into our third year, lets continue to stand on each others shoulders to reach higher, achieve more and grow better bonsai. I'd like to challenge every member to contribute more to AusBonsai by sharing your knowledge, techniques, ideas and most of all pictures! We all love to look at other peoples bonsai but there are only a few of us who are prepared to show theirs. It will only cost you a bit of time and I'm sure you will gain a lot from showing your work. The discussion and comments are mostly very fulfilling.
Thanks to everyone here who has helped AusBonsai become what it is today! A really big thanks to Gocny who build the site and to FlyBri who has put service above self to maintain the forums. Special mention to Mitchell, Jamie, Bougy Fan and Andrew M who also assist with keeping things running smoothly.
