privit 2

Post by hugh grant »

here a privit i worked on today. it was dug up from the side of the road in july and has started growing well.
this tree has some nice features and turned out better then i thought it would. of course this is the first styling and it dosnt look too crash hot yet but it will come along after a bit of growing and thickening of a few branches.

after the styling im not sure which angle should be my front

Hi mate :D

another nice one, the flare at the base is nice too ;)

once again I would consider going back to the lwer branch for the same reason as in the last thread ;) this one will make a nice tree, the apex are doesnt look right with the thick trunk then the branch as the leader coming out of the side below the cut point.

Do you mean cut it right back to the first branch to make a new leader? Well the apex I was going to grow on and thicken more then cut back and stet forming the crown above the cutpoint. Were it's been cut off at the top of the trunk it meant to be a Jin as if the tree has been broken by a storm and has grown back.
Well I hope that explains my idea.

Thanks,
Hugh

hi mate :)

i sort of get were you are going, I dont know how well it is gonna come out because of its size/height as is now, I reckon if you chose one of the lowest branches as a new leader it will give a much better tree in the long run ;)

I think I wou cut it back to the larger brach stub on the Left in the 4th photo
Use that Brasnch as the start of the new apex and maybe tilt to the right to give movement out of the ground and help get he new apex up higher

Hey Ken
I'm liking your idea actually and it would give more to work with if I chopped it back to the branch on left ratherthan the lowest one. The only problem is that it will be pretty hard to move the new leader over because it's quite thick at it's base but like you said tilting it will bring it up more.
Thanks for your suggestion :D
