Hi All,
A customer of mine asked for me to look after this tree, kinda regretting it now as this tree seems to be infected with gall wasps... I think...
Anyone else had any experience with this kind of infestation?
From my experience I was always taught that the infected branches should be cut and burned (early spring), anyone have any other alternatives... as it would be a shame to cut so much of the canopy...
Any advice will be much appreciated...
Elias

Elias, I have not had any experience with this degree of infestation but from what I can see it appears that most of it is in the upper canopy and for my mind this tree could benefit from a drastic thinning out of the top area and force growth and strength back down. Always a difficult decision to make with a tree this size. Sometimes you must go back in order to go forward.

Re: Pyrcantha gall wasps?
Hi Guys,
Thank you for your responses, I chopped this guy really hard, got rid of all the affected areas. It should be good now, but I will keep it isolated for awhile.
And yeah definitely gall wasps Hector....
