gday craig :D

what you have said about the dams filling up is great news! water restrictions are hard enough let alone tryin to water trees on top of that! it definately is a scary issue with having floods go through though.

Jamie, the good thing from a water perspective is that Melbourne's catchments are saturated, which means that all of this rain is going to reach the dams. Should be good inflows when the snow starts melting on the Alps too.

Noah, we had 220mm here in August, you pipped us by 15mm :x . Luckilly we live on top of a mountain, the only thing that would cause flooding here is if a comet landed in Port Philip Bay. Your creek might be a bit of a worry, but it is at least 5m below your house isn't it? I bet those waterlogged wooly cows are still cute.

It will be flooded in the Yarra Valley again this year, I might have to drive the tinny to bonsai club this month :D and the cops will have to set up speed camera bouys  which I wouldn't put past them

For Victoria, they are predicting a warm and dry spring and a warm-hot summer with good rainfall which should have our trees powering along.

Cheer,
Mojo

Hi noah78,

I am sorry to hear about the fencing and plum trees. I hope you have mentally prepared for this and
it was not such a shock to you.

Been raining all day in Canberra as well.

All the rivers, drains are flowing very nicely. Our catchment was allready 65% so I imagine we will be 75% after this episode.

Speaking to an old timer ,he has never seen Barrwidgee Creek flow like this in his life time .The water was travelling at around 70klm as we drove along the road .With the bushfires and clear felling of the pines in the area there is nothing holding the water back , erosion will be a major concern for a lot of folk .Still yet to recieve the water from the mountains as it melts the snow .Tomorrow will be the threat . A heart felt sympathy to anybody effected by this Downpour .Alpineart

alpine that is alot of water moving fast :o my neigbours dragline pump worth about 5k is in my middle paddock atm, those cherrys we collected the other day on the flat near the creek has gone. Guess we saved them as they would be a mile down stream by now. It has eased off last hour but raining quite heavily now :(

Looks like a Yamadori downstream Noah when things calm down.
Like Ken said, just showers here but it's sure nice to see full dams and tanks down your way. :)
Good luck guys and take care.

Hard to believe that with good rain north, west and south of us we still didn't get a drop (and we could sure do with some!). They try to tell us that the Snowy Mountain cloud seeding has no significant inpact on surrounding areas; yeah, right. We didn't miss out altogether; we still have the northerly gales for the last few days.

Best of luck to those impacted by the weather; keep safe people.
