The Name on the three books co written with Dorothy are ( VITA ) for Vitaliy so I believe that is why he is referred to as Vita, that his wife and friends used that also.

It was never my intention to use it, in any other sense than with Praise for the Man.

'Vitaliy' is how Deborah Koreshoff referes to her father in her book "Bonsai Its Art, Science, History and Philosophy". This book was published when her father was still alive.
If we go to the book ..Bonsai with Australian natives..... Dorothy Koreshoff Uses Vito as his name.
And the day I first met and shook his hand he told me to call him Vita. Mind you he introduced his wife as Dorothy and I now call her Nanna. :D

In the "Tao teh Ching" Lao Tzu opens with the line
"the name that can be named is not the real name".
Since this is the philosophical text that formed our culture, fussiness and correctness seem inane.

Only just realized then, I spent a lot of time in the Koreshoff Nursery as a child/young man.
That was the one in Castlehill wasn't it? I purchased my first bonsai from there over 15 years ago. :) If memory serves me correctly there were some amazing trees in it. I spent hours and hours studying them when I was younger.

Does the Koreshoff collection still exist or was it sold of? I don't believe the nursery has been there for years, but what of the collection?

edit--- Auctioned off... :| :(

** Tongue in cheek**

Concerned about the lack of 6:1 trunk to height ratio's in those pictures!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

It could be someone from our Newcastle club. Nothing was mentioned at the recent exhibition and we do have a copy in our library - I think it's still there.
