Macadamia??

Good evening Bonsai wise ones, I was tidying up under my Macadamia tree today and found 4 seedlings which I happily dug up and potted.
First time Ive seen any in the 15 years I've had it.
Has anyone ever tried or heard of these as Bonsai?
Looks like an interesting challenge.

Hey Glenn,
I've not seen one myself, but I have heard of Macadamia, Wallnut, Pistacio, and varios other nut tree being successfully used
for Bonsai. Sounds interesting though, might even give one a go myself? Try this site?

I've never seen any as Bonsai etheir but I do have one that I am going to try and bonsai. I dug it up as a seedling aswell about 2 months ago from under our tree, it has about a 1.5cm base on it. When I dug it up I cut it back to a bare trunk and it's first buds just opened this week! So they can take trunk chopping.

I have had a Macadamia in a pot for 12-15 years.
Like all Queensland rain forest trees it has a very straight up to the light growth. It shoots back from the old wood easily and the shoots go straight up. They are difficult to wire and at 3-5mm do not take to bending down. The wood is very hard and the shoots are hard. As with all my old trees it has been infrequently root pruned and re-potted but has survived each time.
If I had a number of small seedlings I would use a clip and grow and pot as a group early. They are hungry trees.
The leaves are large, spiky and tough but respond to pruning back to 2/3 , (two thirds) off to produce a small leaf.

Mac, seeing as Bruce reckons they grow hard and straight up the braiding idea seems like a goer thanks for the link.
