AABC Convention Welcome Night
Fantastic bonsai display!! Heaps of trees and the quality is extremely high. Anyone on the forum who is in Sydney and not attending the convention should still try to get to the Bankstown Sports Club to view the exhibit area. Some fantastic trees, soes, sueseki.... it's all there and the first evening definitely does the Illawarra Bonsai Club proud indeed and the two big days are still to come. There's plenty of retail stock on sale... Nesci's, Kingston Wang for plants, Pat Kennedy, Penny Davis and Janet Selby for pots plus a bloke from WA with mallee in the most incredible configurations. And if that isn't enough attraction the venue itself is worth a long walk through. Has to be the best club in NSW..

Yes I can... my point and shoot camera can't override the soft lighting and the photos I took came out too dark. I have 5 trees on display and wanted a nice photo of them and just doesn't work. There's heaps of Ausbonsai people there, including Steven, so I am more than sure good photos will be on the site in the next day or so.

Dam KC I thought you where there. You have a high reputation for getting us the best coverage of these events. Nothing gets between KC and a good picture

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: AABC Convention Welcome Night
Hi guys,
After reading here how there was a few AABC guys at the convention (i wasn't one of them), how do you guys recongnise each other if you haven't met before?
Is there a secret handshake? Do you tuck your pants into your socks? Is everyones hair parted on the same side?
I was reading on here a while ago about getting an AABC pin made for members to wear to bonsai meetings/conventions etc. Is anything more happening with this?

teaser
, Sorry i cant upload more i have to crash for work later. I am sure better quality pics will be up soon as i was watching a photo shoot taking place.
The lighting should have been in front of the trees for people with point and shoot camera's but oh well, Still it was an awsome display.

Re: AABC Convention Welcome Night
I went to the show today and was VERY please that I did. The display was first rate and the trees.... Now they were special. Can't wait for the pics. I didn't bother taking any as my photography skills are non existant. Actually they are not that good! I did but a parrotia from Ray and my first PK pot. I plan to put a C. torrulosa in it.
