Hi Folks
I would appreciate your advice on the initial trimming of a Eucalypt tree. My original intention was for it to be an Informal upright style but I am open to suggestions on style.
I have attached a couple of pics.

Hi Fred; We love Nicholli here! 2nd photo shows nice basal flare and movement. You want to take advantage of that. In the next repot lean the angle a little more to the left. I would then trunk chop to the 1st right hand branch and let that movement flow to the new leader.

Hi Fred, Ant is spot on your tree has a nice base but beyond that no taper. By cutting is back hard then regrowing you will acheive a good taper to match the base.

Thanks for your advice.
I hoped that I might be able to use the trunk as is with the thickening branch at the top as the new apex. It will take a lot of years for the right hand branch to thicken significantly to continue the taper.

Not at all mate! If you got potting, food and water up to speed, it wont take long at all.
