Something Strange with the leaves

Post by AndrewM »

I have had this bougy for a few years and last winter it died right back through lack of care
I got it back but the new growth is coming out good on top but the lower leaves are all wrinkled and o am not shore what is causing it.

If any of the bougy experts have seen this before or anyone how knows what it is some advise would be a great help :D

Thanks.

Thanks Ken
That was one of my thoughts was to just cut them of and hope for the best. But i wanted to ask the question just in case there is an underlying problem with the tree :D

Hi Andrew
I am no bougy expert but that looks like the fungus we have been having trouble with in NSW. It is most prevelant after leaf/growth reduction.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Cheers Bretts

But I don't think it is a fungus unless it is in the soil. The foilage is healthy enough besides the wrinkleing issue.

Hi Andrew
I have seen plenty of trees affected by this fungus that are "healthy" as you say except for being deformed. There is a Tallow tree down the street that is doing a very good impression of a ginko tree (leaf tip is inturned so it looks like a ginko leaf) which is very common in tallow with this fungus.
