Collected Bougainvillea

Hi all

Since moving into my new house 18 months ago I have had to chop back this wild and out of control Bougie several times. I decided it was not really the right thing to have where it is due to its long thorns so decided to dig him up

I will let him recover and see what we have but any ideas gladly accepted

There is a tree there, somewhere. Although that thick trunk has some good movement I think your tree will be found amoungst the cluster.
I can see a really impressive "grounded" tree, but for some reason I am seeing one of the center branches being utilised not the thick one.
I am sure others would dis-agree, but I see a sweeping bonsai, huge nebari with a medium sided main branch leading off...

Edit- I forgot to say, great stock! It is a bit confusing for me with all the branches, maybe I need my photos, but it beams potential all round!!!...

Very nice multi-trunk stock. It will recover just fine so I would chop/trim/cut/etc now and will just wire the new shoots which will sprout out like crazy in the next few weeks (why would we waste the stored energy on unwanted new shoots in wrong places?)

it looks like a solid stump KC i will be very interested in how you go about working this one and where it ends up, it is going to be difficult material to work with i reckon.

i think a multi trunk is the way to go, single trunk tree will be hard to work with, but not impossible, if it would be possible to remove all trunks and regrow suckers and create a raft/turtle back style that might be an option.
