Buying first tools

Hi all,
I have also recently bought a set of my first bonsai tools, I purchased them from Ray Nesci does anyone know what brand of tools these are.

I may have done the same thing and tried to cut a branch too big for the cutters and now they are slightly offset when i cut leaving a sharp edge on the trunk.

Damn it

what ya need to do is get a vice grip and clamp the handle tight, a bench vice will work too, then use a spanner that fits the top of the blade, and gently and ii mean gently push or pull depending on which way you have twisted it. then it will be a matter of sharpening to suit and make sure they overlap again, as i got advice on it i do to you if you are not happy with the quality take them back. i am sure there is some form of customer satisfaction.

Archie, are they the ones sold with four tools in a tool roll as 'The Essential Bonsai Tool Kit'? If so I know they are Japanese (I bought a set last week; they're now $140) but not the brand.

At the time I bought I asked how to cut big branches and Ray showed me how using two cuts rather than one which take the pressure of the tool - it's like a cut halfway then another from a slightly different direction - a bit hard to explain.
