Casuarina up date

G,day people as it is nice and cool here in the West today just 28. I thought I would get some wiring and thinning done on my she oak.

Just some refinement and a bit more of a bend at the top. In the process there is a slight split opening up above the hollow.
This will also show how tough they are, that question was asked the other day. My answer was tough as nails, as you can see by the treatment this has received.
Looking at the picture as posted I would say the second branch on the left needs to come down a bit. Which I will do.

It's an awsome tree you've got there pup esppecially with that great hollow through the trunk, It wouldn't look as good without it.

I agree about bringing that branch down...otherwise it is very nicely done. And you are one of the few that consistently pair the right tree and the right pot together. Well done.

Lowered the branch now we wait to see how we go.

An inspiring tree, Pup.

I’m interested in the hollow; I presume that you have burned the wood. I love the look, may I ask what tool you use to do this “burn” work and how you shield the foliage and living bark?

AusBonsai, and trees such as your Casuarina, have sparked my interest in Australian natives and I can see uses for the burn technique.

Try Casuarina rebirth, Jan it shows the tree from its start. I do protect the foliage with damp cloth. I use a fine blow torch some Chefs use for caramelization
