I.D needed on a tree.

Post by Craig.a.c »

While I was working last night (security patrols) I decided to go for a drive to our local B@%$ings store and see what sort of goodies they throw out.
When I pulled up I noticed one of the large dumpsters had flowers and all types of leaves sticking out of it so I decided to jump in and have a look.
I found a good looking little Thai Red Chilli plant and this small tree.
I loved the way it looked and thought it would fun to work on. Please excuse the crude wiring, wanted to pull the branch down more and try and straighten the main trunk a bit more.
I am hoping that someone could I.D it for me. Also, when will it be ok to put into a bonsai pot?

(hope the pic works).

Nice find. It'll be interesting to find out what it is.

The waste from shops like Bunnings, Kmart, Coles (you should see the food these stores throw out :x ) etc. is incredible. And we all pay for it in the long term.

I go for the Melaleuca Revolution Gold. It's a great species. Responds well, grows well, LOVES living in a very full water tray. The hotter the day the higher the water level. Shoots back on old wood but not a lot between foliage pad and trunk! And does it ever brighten the bonsai bench with the yellowy green leaves.
