Psymo, I'm working on the Robert workshop tree over the next couple of days...just wiring out little twiggy branches, no major bending so i'll post up a photo when I'm finished.

Jamie, I wont be doing any carving for a long while on this one. So use your imagination...come up with something amazing!!

webosjunipervirt1.jpg

i used everything you had on the tree, as much as possible, the lower deadwood might need a lirrle bit added to get like that but i think there is enough choice to get something great out of it!

now if only i could find some sort of stock like this but about the height of the stubby that was in the pic

Webos I hope you don`t mind I had a go at a virt on your juni , mate this is a great bit of stock with heaps of potential. The way I have done this v is just one of many options, I think it could also look good with just having a shari on the outside . I did a workshop with Robert in 2006, he is a great guy with a huge amount of knowledge . I will post the tree I did with him it was a juni as well, I have just pruned and rewired it. .... CHEERS ROD....

Rod and Jamie...Brilliant. I love them. I like the canopy on Rods and the Jin/Shari on Jamie's..

I was asked whatever happened to the Juniper I work on with Robert... Well here it is after a little wiring today. Not finished, ran out of wire. Disappears quickly whilst working on a biggun lile this.

I was talking to Boon about this tree yesterday, and he reckons it's too tall. He thinks I should develop the tree from that group of low branches on the right hand side of the tree.

What do you think?

This is an awsome start Webos. It will make some great carving material. I have to ask the question though, the foliage looks like a cypress , Chamycyparis to be exact. Could you clear it up for me? Maybe i need glasses as i get older

P.S i am talking about the first picture at the beginning of this thread.

Hi Webos,
Looks to me like juniperus sabina, (crushed foliage has an unpleasant smell) can you confirm?

regards Gerard
