SELL: Tim's Waverly Sale (MELB)

Post by TimS »

Hey all,

Just putting one entire thread of everything going to the Waverly Club Sale in a month's time in one thread here rather than all the mixed ones left, right and centre.

All prices here as Ausbonsai prices, and at the sale they will be +10-15% to account for the club commissions. I'd prefer these to stay in the Ausbonsai family so trying to look after you a bit!

All trees are located in S.E Bayside Melbourne, i will not be posting any interstate or around VIC as...the majority are too large to post anyway.

1. Japanese Maple in am uncommon and beautiful natural style. First photo is how it looks today, the others show it through the seasons. Lovely old tree with mature bark to the apex, i would guess in the region of 20-30 years old but the bark hints it could well be older. $750 to an Ausbonsai member

2. Japanese Maple Root over Rock formal style. All photos except autumn colour one are how it looks today. Lovely tree again, it has almost entirely swallowed the rock, and presents very well. Will need repotting this year. $1,250 through here before the show

3. Japanese Maple 'Kashima". It's not as far along as the other two above, this is a rare dwarf cultivar of Japanese Maple that is still excellent for bonsai culture. It has a lovely balance of dense foliage without being as intense as a really close budding cultivar like a Shishigashira. It will be a seriously good tree with about 5 years of intentional care, but since it's at the beginning it's cheaper at $650 through here before the show

4. Trident Maple large. First 3 photos are from today, the others are in leaf from previous sesasons. Formal tree being retrained, I've begun regrowing new branches, but it needs time and wiring for them to be retrained. Very powerful tree in person, and even more so in leaf. Not much more to say, big old tree! $750 through here before the show.

5. Ginkgo dwarf in a Murrumbung Tracy Francis Pot. Beautiful little tree with dense habit and amazing autumnal colour. Very well developed, virtually scarless trunk, grown to a flame style. Great tree and a great pot ready to go, not much more to be said! $550 through here before the show

6. Ginkgo AKA "Big Kohuna". I've ummed and errd about this one because the grower has stopped doing Ginkgo and the opportunity to get another won't come again. I won't go into too much detail but the full history exists in the thread in the deciduous section. $850 through here before the show

7. Ginkgo flame style younger. Younger tree than those above, also a virtually scarless trunk though and looks phenomenal in autumn colour. Ready to be potted into a bonsai pot this year and taken forward on to be a delightful tall flame style. $250 through here before the sale

8. Prunus either peach or nectarine i can't recall. Pink flower but just a stump s not a whole lot going on with this one, i got it free from another member so it feels wrong to charge money for it now but i have about $10 of potting mix into it ; so $10 to a new home

9: A stunning Vintage Koyo of the previous generation (Kouichiro now deceased) in the quintessential black clay no longer used. External dimensions are 31.cm x 4cm. Very rare cream glaze with firing colours of tawny browns and subtle rivets for a bit more texture. Also unusual being round; most Koyo pots tend to be ovals or squares. Realistically this pot should be around the $1000 mark, but with people tightening belts these days my final price drop is to $550 + postage

10. Koyo round shohin pot, hand made for Fuyo-en nursery in Omiya with stamp on base. Delightful mixed unglzed and caramel galze that's quite unusual, would suit really any tree from native, conifer or deciduous. Internal dimensions are 17cm x 3.5cm (4 at a push if right to lip) $250 +postage

11. Walsall Studio Ceramics large rectangle in a delightful pale blue matte glaze with hints of lemon yellow. Internal measurements are 35cm x 29cm x 8cm. I will supply better photos if interested, my lighting outside is overpowering the real delicate nature of this glaze. Purchased from Bonsai Island and never used, it would suit a large deciduous tree or possibly a native if wanting to evoke the sea/ beach. The pale blue won't overpower autumnal colour where most darker blues will. Wonderful pot, hard to buy Walsall pots, $450, pick up very much preferred due to weight but can work out postage at additional cost.

12;Walsall Studio Ceramics large oval in a really interesting Pink matte glaze with subtule hints of green that really are delightful. Internal Measurements are 36cm x 29cm x 6cm. Like the above i can supply better photos in natural light, but the artifical light didn't have the same effect on this as the lbue. Purchased from Bonsai Island and used for my Chinese Elm in the Waverly Show previously, it would play to a wide range of trees to pick out subtle bark or autumnal colours without competing against them at all. It really fades back to let the tree be the focal point which is just how i like my pots. Wonderful pot again hard to get hold of many Walsalls here price is $400 pick up very much preferred due to weight but can work out postage at additional cost.

Again i've run out of photo upload space, so feel free to contact me for more photos of anything. There may be more coming too, still deciding on a few.....
