Celtis africana forest.

This is Celtis africana. The tree is in danger of dying out because of its hybrids with Celtis sinenis and Celtis australis.
Any comments on the placing of the trees?

I think that the placement is pretty good but needs some wire. like the one on the left could be better if the branches were wired down a little to make a nicer canopy

the placement looks pretty good
theres a lot of nice branching to work with i would plant on a small mound with the straightest trees to the middle and the ones with the most movement to the outside as the will be distorting around the older trees in the middle to reach for the light allso the tallest to the middle as it would be the oldest and the parent tree to the others have you got a pot or slab in mind yet
remember naturaul is the best not to even or static

Wow I loveit!!! I agree with Dayne about having it on a mound with the tallest and straightest in the middle. This is a winner!! Would also look good with some moss, small rocks with lichen and one or two figures

I haven't done much to this planting except for the removal of some twigs I am not going to use. I will begin working on the branches soon. One big mistake I have realized after wards was the too deep planting. But this trees can take a lot of abuse so I am going to reduce the roots quite a lot next spring. I just want the tree to grow enough roots to form a mat- that will keep the planting together when reducing the roots.

I am going to correct the taper of the front tree by growing a sacrifice branch. I would like it to become a little thicker also.
