Crab Apple and Cherry

Post by MJL »

One of my neighbours has these lovely Crab Apples and Cherries in his front yard. A nearby neighbour keeps bees for a hobby. It seems it’s a match made in heaven - the bees ensuring an abundant crop each year. Lovelystuff. This year I asked if I could take some cuttings - whether they take or not is another thing. The cuttings pictures below are 3 weeks in... probably just flowering from residual energy. Time will tell pretty trees nonetheless!

I took tonnes and tonnes of cherry cuttings this year, they pushed leaves but dropped all the flowers. They are now callusing beautifully and i've potted up 2 Kanzan that have rooted very strongly already so hang in there and you'll be rewarded :tu2:
Another calm contribution by Tim

Tim, don’t let the cuttings dry out and you should be fine. Mark, you may have waited too long before taking your cuttings. If they don’t take, try again next year Autumn, Winter. Gorgeous Cherry blosoms :tu:
