Hey Jordy,

Have about 225 out in the field...let me know if I can help. Damian Bee is spot on with the Peter Adams suggestion, excellent book.

Love em' Jordy!

Took me an eternity to hunt down the rough bark "Arakawa" in my area but I ultimately succeeded. :D Lovely tree that one.
I really do wish they'd hurry up and grow.

Hello,

I have had a Japanese Maple for 20 odd years and I think I have done for it.I root pruned it late winter and all was well when it started shooting...Unfortunately the shoots have turned black and died and there are secretions (not many) coming from the buds. Also the pot has stayed wet.
Any suggestions? Please?

Regards

Either Root rot of Fungus

I do not know the name of the fungicide Ray recommends, but i will have some next week tho

Check the local nursery shodu have something

if it is Fungus, I have been advised to chop of any affected areas by cutting back to the unnafected wood. Once it goes black then you are buggered.

Jordy, I have a bunch of Japanese Maple Cultivars, including a Rough Bark Japanese Maple like TeeJay and I have a hybrid of Acer palmatum and Acer capillipies (Kyushu or Red Snakebark Maple) which is basically a small palmatum leaf with capillipies striped bark and autumn colour.
