....the thing I liked most about this is the young fellas who are (probably begrudgingly) accompanying parents, but yet appear fascinated by the trees. The young guy on the left appears to be looking closely at the nebari....The future of Aussie bonsia isnt the trees, it is the young people who will take the challenge on.
Thanks, Steven. I really got a kick of watching the kids and sometimes talking with them. Yes, a few couldn't wait to get out again, but many were quite interested. They liked being told about the Japanese black pine which is the King of Bonsai, and the Japanese white pine which is the Queen. And about the "Mother and Child" style tree, and the small Korean fir which is just like a tree out there in the wild. And so on. The pair on the photo spent quite a long time at the collection, and they were just gorgeous.
It will be good to be sleeping back in my own bed and not in the office. (tee hee)
...and not to have to listen to the deafening pop music that makes the walls of the cottage vibrate!
The sacrifices one has to make as Curator - just as well it's only one month in the year.
