Hi all
At Bonsai Northwest in Melbourne, we had the great pleasure of having Mike (treeman) give us a very informative talk on Japanese Maples.
I've already used his information to re-work my Japanese maples.
We record our club demonstrations and then share in this information to everyone out there on YouTube.
Hope all enjoy.

Remember, Mike is also giving a talk "Breaking the Mould" at the AABC 2018 convention, so make sure you register.

Just finished watching this whilst working.
A lot of great info on a very common sense approach. Well worth the view.
Thanks David and Treeman

Verey informative Mike. I seem to always have issues with long internodes on young maples but I find once they have gotten abit of age and been worked for several years the node length shortens as maybe the growth rate slows alittle on more mature trees
I really love working with Japanese maples but they require so much more perservance , technique and management than tridents so it is a species I would not really recommend to beginners.

I've still got half an hour to go, but very useful watching so far! I've been avoiding Japanese maples thinking they were too hard. They just have specific needs...
