celtis,
have i got anything worth continuing with here?
i was going to give it a shape and a wire for the winter...
one question is with the first branch (2nd pic shows it best) - should it go or thicken
in that same pic the large branch out to the left -should it be shortened??
i'd love some wisdom
cheers

Re: celtis,
I like the Last pic as the front, and tilt to the right at the next repot to bring the apex over the base.
Cut all bracing back hard and wire what is left.
from now grow the braching by citining back often to 2 leaves and build ramification

Re: celtis,
Morrie,
how thick do you want the trunk ?
What shape do you imagine for the tree ?
Laters.

Re: celtis,
Greetings, I like the front Ken has suggested. Remember it's all about trunk taper. Anything on the trunk that is thicker than the first branch should come off. A broom style would work with this tree. Happy bonsai, Bruce.

Re: celtis,
thanks for the advise... i had always envisaged the carving to be the front but i can see the last pic has a better balance...
i was at the point where the trunk was a thick as it could be for the rest of it ...
informal was my original idea... can a broom work with a craved trunk?

Re: celtis,
I think the new trunk is too straight and long would cut it just above the lowest branch and that way get some movement to the right
