Tasmanian Conifers

These arrived in the mail today. Really looking forward to growing these!

Top row: Celery Top Pine, Huon Pine, Oyster Bay Pine
Bottom row: Lax-Leaf Pine, King Billy Pine

Being Tasmanian Conifers, I will sow now and allow seeds to go through a Winter in hopes they will begin to germinate in Spring.

I would expect most of those to germinate reasonably soon and grow through winter. Look forward to your updates as these germinate and grow.

I was planning on using a 50/50 mix of seed raising mix and propagation sand for these. What are your thoughts on the best soil mix for germination?

They should germinate happily in that mix. You do need to remember there is virtually no nutrients in seed raising mx so you should start to fertilise very soon after they germinate.
Do you intend to sow in community pots or put a seed each in smaller pots?
I normally sow multiple seeds in one container then prick out the tiny seedlings into individual pots after they germinate.

I will be putting a seed in individual pots. I fear I would be far too clumsy to try and tweezer out tiny seedlings.
