Great pictures Grant. It's looking great. Have you found a spot that this one will stay in this year or will it follow the shade up the bench again?

G,day Grant a very nice progression. The back drop is terrible . I have been thinking about that ( ouch that hurts ), any way is it possible to get a piece of MDF. 1200x1200 3mm paint it might need it bigger for the taller tree's.
You can then put it behind when you need to take a picture. I have a piece set up behind my work top so that when I am working I can take pics ( if I bloody remember.)

Just a thought the other back drop I have is made from a blue bed sheet, stretched over an aluminum A frame as in advertising.

I must admit this is light to carry but awkward to set up on your own, I have a black and decker folding work bench I use.
As the vice with a couple of pieces of 25x50 mm hold it firm. Putting it behind some of the tree's will not allow I don't think ,but the smaller one might work.

Or getting a 2.4x 1200 might be the way to go. These are just some thoughts you might find helpful or

For those few days of 40 degrees plus I will put this tree into the shade. For the rest of the year it is in full sun inside the collection structure which does give maybe 10% protection.

Hi Pup,

Yes I am all to aware of the background and we were just discussing the background for the new future collection building that is being planned now. We hope to have plans to look at soon and the background will be high on our list to ensure it is satisfactory for the permanent site.

In the mean time some photos will be taken in situ and others inside the studio.

Is there any progression on a collection program that could be purchased from the collection. I reckon this could be a great money spinner that people would gladly collect. Might be pushing things but you could even do a Bi yearly one that would show the Tropicals that are only there for a short period as well and It might change slightly year to year as new additions come and go.

Nothing under active consideration at the moment.

Once we build up a collection of good photos it may be possible but not a high priority at the moment.

Trees look very good at very different times over the year and it would be very expensive to have a professional photographer visit many times over a year or two, but I would prefer only professional photos for a publication so therefore a standoff at the moment.
