Ok had to go running all around this arvo, so ducked into bunnings to have a look, no luck there. So called Flower Power @Glenhaven and they had 3 in stock @$39 each. (white only)
Called in and picked up 1 only as they are just a stick in a 200 mm pot

Got home and planted in the garden to thicken up and while at it took a few bits off to put in as cuttings. Being Crepe then they should root easily and if so will bring the effective price down to only a few dollars each :tu: :tu:

Any how we will see

Gees $39 for a stick. Will be interesting to see how fast a dwarf variety grows.

Saw some of these in bunnings in january, week later they were all gone.
Very interesting indeed. Still not sure about the dark leaves, but the contrast with the flower colour looks like something from another planet.

I can't think of any other tree remotely like that. On this note, we Aussies seem to have such a limited variety of crepe myrtles to buy. They are the most awesome tree for our climate. Watch videos on youtube, the Americans have all kinds of amazing varieties. Red rocket which has totally red flowers, i've never seen it here. And ones with variegated leaves. Ones with kind of variegated flowers.

Anyway i took this picture of the dark leaf variety.
