Well i finally got a surprise maple but she's not doing so good
Came from Sydney and while unpacking the box most of the leaves were badly stuck to those puffy things people pack with and the leaves were half brown already..
She has lost half the leaves & stems... not sure what to do apart from keeping the water up and mostly in the shade

Hi Wal,
Yeah, looks a bit stressed to me, and probably dried out somewhere along the line. What you're planning to do sounds like the best option. The stems and buds still look OK and with a little TLC it should bounce back pretty quick. Good Luck.
Frank.
That Trident will be fine. Its only the leaves and they will drop in a cople of months anyway.
Just water with seasol and it will come good. Then come August repot.
Cheers
Kirky
I'd slip pot it... that is just pot it into a larger sized pot so it's got room to grow roots. Cut the leaves off as well... You've still got another couple of months of growing season here in Brisbane, so you might as well give it a better chance at not only recovering, but putting on some nice growth.
This little Trident is doing really good now.. i did take the last few leaves off but they were all dropping anyway.. within 2 days she was shooting again

Hi Wal,
It sure looks to be doing well. They are quite tough & resilient. I have a more advanced Trident Maple which I cut back hard and shaped severely out of what was really just a bush that had deliberately been grown like that to get plenty of ramification. I also wired it and pruned the roots a little and it has taken it all in its stride and is looking healthy, apart from some sunburned very young shoots when we had some hot days before the rain started. I forgot to roll the shadecloth cover down in the morning.
Great to see such a strong come back! You're doing a great job but I have to ask, is this kept indoors? Or do you just bring it in to photograph?

Thank you mate... so healthy from all the lub i give her i say
Kept in full sun and fed with powerfeed weekly
Only bring inside at night to look at with stary eyes lol and photograph
