air layer a cotoneaster

Hi everyone
Hoping for some advice from those in the know please, I'm looking to layer this cotoneaster at the places marked in the photo. These branches are all in a cascading position , is it possible to layer at these points even though the apex's are lower and if so how will the roots grow. Sorry if it's a dumb question but it doesn't seem to me that it can work. Any advice would be welcome, thanks

Yes, you can layer in an of those spots. The plant actually knows which is the root end and which is the tip end no matter which way up the plant or branch happens to be so it will always grow roots from the end closest to the trunk/roots.
Have fun putting on those layers if you must. Personally, I would not bother layering this. I'd just cut those off and put them in as cuttings. This particular cotoneaster strikes very reliably from cuttings.
