Hmm how long ago did you get yours? When i spoke to Tess few days back she said they should flower this year.. but ofcause you would have got one from a different lot.Beano wrote:I used to live there. I got my experimental crabapple which I took to cairns from her. It seems to like the year long growing season, but it's never flowered. Hers aren't grafted but they may be pretty young plants. Or perhaps because the tree is in cairns it won't flower.
I left it there with dad before I moved as it wasn't really an attractive specimen for bonsai and it's still doing well.
How did the new one turn out so far... do you have a pic mate?Beano wrote:Hey, I got it in 2014 I think. It only ever got Yates fish emulsion and seasol for soil condition. I'm pretty sure fish emulsion is for foliage growth rather than flowering, but I'm not sure exclusively using that would stop it flowering if all other conditions are right. I'm thinking conditions aren't right for it. It lived its life on my balcony as I never had a garden, unit living doesn't often provide gardens. It could have done with more hours of sunlight per day. While it was in a styro box it never got very fat, preferring to grow upwards instead. From what I read they aren't easy to get taper into the trunks. Because it wasn't great stock and I had limited car space for the move, I decided to leave it behind and get a new one here.
I would back flip like a Ninja if mine was like that omg! Well doneric wrote:Inspired me to find my crabbapple project and here she is clamouring for my attention
