It doesn't have thorns, so it can't be a pyracantha.
Does this mean it's definitely a Cotoneaster?

That would have been a sight there Andrew, maybe with a bit of peanut butter for lube and then a hell of a lot of Enos ( fruit salts ).
But alas i do believe your Ipad is safe
