Slaters.

Has anyone had any slater issues? I am having issues with them getting into the roots of my stock plants via the drainage holes and then basically chewing the roots off.

Any idea on treatments? Confidor soak? Anyone had similar issues? I am thinking I will add an ant cap style steel sheet to my benches in the future to stop crawling critters.

Hi Jow , mate I have had major issues with slaters until I found "Richgrow" "Slater and Millipede Killa" , available at the big shed . It has solved the issue to date , been in use for 2 seasons now and no damaged material this season again . Simple sprinkle it on the plants or benches . My grow beds have no infestations like years gone by . potted material is also free of he pests .

Thanks Ian, that's better than my solution.

I must admit I'm really popular with the chooks in repotting season - they know to come up to the fence when I whistle, for a nice slater-dinner. And I enjoy the revenge.

Would submerging the pots for a couple of hours work short term also? I don't think they have gills? :Twisted:

It would work but it's not really practical over a large number of pots.

I crush up snail pellets and put them under the pots works for me.
