Arakawa maple

Post by cottie »

Whilst browsing at a local nursery today I found a Japanese maple "Arakawa" . I know that the tree itself has little to offer as a bonsai due to the poor graft, but hopefully I will be able to set some air layers and strike some cuttings from it. It is the first one I have ever come across in tassie.

Let us know how you go striking it. I tried a few years back and failed but I have the tree in the ground still and will try again this year. I know it can be done. Bill Valavanis says they grow well on their own roots.

I really do wish they'd hurry up and grow.
