68 Sticky Wattle Acacia howittii Acquired as nursery stock 20 years ago and grown as a bonsai since then. The tree is very vigorous and gets a heavy cut back in November. Requires good watering all year round.
69 English Elm Ulmus procera Yamadori. Collected from a river bank in 1991. The hollows were developed where major branches were removed at collection. All branches were regrown and are maintained by cutting back the first Spring flush.
70 Coastal Tea Tree Leptospermum laevigatum Yamadori. Collected in 2011. Coastal Tea Trees are notoriously difficult to keep alive after digging. I particularly like the wild aspect this tree exhibits.
71 Burgan Kunzea ericoides Yamadori. Date of collection is unknown but probably 20 - 25 years ago. It was restyled about 9 years ago at a BSV club night when it was planted on a piece of Mallee root.
72 Mirror Bush Coprosma repens Yamadori. Collected as a stump in 1991. Its training started immediately as it budded everywhere following collection. Refinement has continued since then.
73 Seiju Elm Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju' Ground grown for many years purposely for bonsai the tree was dug in 2007. Shaping and refinement has continued since then. It did spend a year at the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection.
74 Silver Berry Eleagnus pungens Age unknown, but following purchase from an enthusiast who was downsizing, the tree was restyled in January 2016. More work needs to be done but it is progressing nicely.
75 Swamp Paperbark Melaleuca raphiophylla Yamadori. Collected approx 12 years ago from land earmarked for development. The large scar at the front is where a much larger portion of the tree was removed at collection time. It s easily maintained but need lots of water.
76 Prickly Paperbark Melaleuca stypheloides Purchased as raw nursery stock in 2011. This tree flowers annually.

I am glad you enjoyed our show, it is interesting to hear which trees appeal to you, white pine 22 or 25? My favourite was tree 75 melaleuca raphiophylla. It was hard to make the decision in the end I walked around thinking Which would I choose if I could take it home?

Re: BSV 2016 Exhibition photos
As I said in the other thread my "peoples choice" was the EE #69.
To be honest from the flyer I thought it was a very non-descript tree and I wondered on the choice..
.....But in person it was amazing and it exudes age and realism.
I'd like to know how this tree was prepared for the show?
Reason being my EE at home and many other street tree's have only just broken first bud or are in the very early stages of growth after dormancy?
#61 Pyracantha was amazing, underneath perspective of the canopy was absolutely splendid!
#7 shohin display what is the dark blue potted tree on the left hand side Gerard? This looks like a fantastic species to work with!
#52 Dawn Redwood - close 2nd for mine, just a wonderful specimen in it's prime showing time!
#41 Azalea - photo just doesn't do justice to the beauty of this colour.
#75 no doubt an incredible tree but I'm pretty sure I have seen this "around the traps" on several occasions (not a bad thing!).
Always a great and professional show BSV well done.
I think this is my 3rd or 4th year runnning for me - I got a lovely locally made cascade pot and a pair of wire cutters as well.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Great show again, and I preferred the setup this year.
Does anyone know anything about the pot on tree 39? I fell in love with it.
