Pomegranate with potential

I would like to share my work on this pomegranate so far. Criticism and suggestions all welcome.

This one was destined to become a fruiting tree but i couldn't keep my hands off it . It was grown from seed in 2012. Did some trimming in autumn 2013. Through entire 2014, it has been trimmed constantly and finally wired in September 2014. Photograph doesn't show the back and front movement in the tree. The aim is to fatten this beauty up by using sacrifice branches while maintaining lower ramification. The new growth has to be wired before it hardens off as it gets very brittle. I have snapped a few branches while wiring but it recovers soon after. Doesn't tend to die off. Heals really well.

they do tend to sometimes suffer from dieback if you wire the branches. Good luck with it.

I have a number of Pomegranates. A couple of years ago, I made some massive airlayers. Actually just wanted to test how big a Pomegranate air layer I could successfully make.

I agree, pomegranates are tough to bend, but they are really tough, so carving and hard bending has always worked just fine. Mine are still under construction. I potted both into bonsai pots this year. Gave the one to my wife and kept the other. Lots of small trees which will be developed over time also. Mainly by my children. They grow so fast that it keeps them interested in bonsai.

I will try to reduce photo size and upload original photos. I have not taken any since potting in bonsai pot as it has very thick, black wire on it to get the bends I want.

Nope but I think they're quite robust and should be OK win normal care.

I have a couple or three Pome's and one thing I have learnt is that if you gyre wire you attach to the styling wire as they tend to swell up and down with watering and you 'will' get a very deep wire cut that may catch you out and ring bark your branch.
Also a few wires crossing over each other...simple fix.. just rewire as all the literature and these guys on Aus Bonz recommend.
