Wisteria isn't looking very happy!!

Hey everyone
So I purchased a wisteria a few months back, and it's looking a little sad. The leaves are a little crisp and there are yellow dots on them.

Since receiving it I haven't done much to it except sit it in lots of sun in a saucer of water and feeding it every two weeks.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Just as a side note, this is the first wisteria I have ever had and have have only read that these conditions are good for the tree.

Try regular misting of the leaves. Given the hot weather on Melbourne you did well to keep it green!

bb, It doesn't look particularly unhappy but feeding wisteria once every 2 weeks is nowhere near enough. You should feed it enough so it produces strong vines and lush green leaves. If you don't need to cut vines and thin leaves out you're not feeding enough. Especially for such a young plant. You should feed full strength liquid feed every week along with regularly replaced solid organic fertilizer on the pot all summer. Keep it in the sun unless it's 35 degrees or over.

I must say BB your bonsai is looking better then mine. It's just a stump. I had to drastically prune it back after it getting hit by a bad hail storm a few weeks ago.

Just start feeding it heaps more and I've moved it into a sunnier spot.

Oh elljuu that's a little disappointing. Hopefully it bounces back nicely

Has anyone had experience repotting wisteria in summer? I'd love to get this little guy into a bigger pot but I don't want to damage it or slow down its growth in any way

you should be able to slip pot it with relative ease. Quite literally slip it out the the existing pot whole, maybe breaking the soil slightly on the outside of the rootball so that when you put it into a larger pot, the roots will want to expand into the new medium.

You may have rotting roots...Check them. If they have black tips or the tips are mushy, your plant cannot take up much water or nutrients. If that is the case, wash the roots clean and repot into a fresh mix. The same size pot will do. There
s no need for fancy mixes. The tree will recover quickly if you attend to it straight away. When the tree recovers (about 1 month), start feeding again. I'm not a big fan of leaving them soaking in water. I've read all the arguments for it but I always found a bit of root rot at the end of the season. I know this is one of the objectives to induce flowering but I found it unnecessary.

My wisteria did that. It didn't have many leaves. And I just gave it a little seasol every morning for a few weeks and it bounced back. I'm not a fan of the water in the bottom either. I thought that they didn't like wet roots.
