Cascade Maple - New Apex

I have been thinking about removing the apex from the cascade maple. I talked to some other bonsai enthusiast and they also think I should remove the apex. So the little pad under the apex will be the new apex.

I think the tree will look a lot better... I am just after your opinion about removing the apex.

Reckon Kvan's virt should inspire you... The tree looks a load better I think. Much nicer proportions, I say do it based on the photos.

I would remove the top and go with the virt. As it is too top heavy and out of balance

It seems to be a tree that's going in two opposite directions, and so it can't agree. I can't see the cascade very well, but I quite like the funky upright trunk, it has real character. Would you consider cutting off the cascade? It depends on how the base will look, of course.

Please keep posting the tree as you make decisions.

A cascade maple is not something you see at all. Great to see people like yourself trying something different. After all bonsai it art and I love to see something so different. Continue with this as others would chop it. Great effort and thinking for living outside the square.
