A bog a day gets Meleleucas' away!

Post by fossil finder »

After reading about growing water loving species in a artificial bog I thought I'd create one and try some Red-flowering paperbarks, claret tops and sticky wattle. I thought I'd try planting in custom perforated broccoli cases. The aggregate is 50/50 10mm scoria and coarse decomposed granite. The bottlebrush shading the pond has just dropped heaps of flowers in the pond. Thats why it looks like they are in soil. I grew these paperbarks from seed this season and popped them from tubes into the drink 5 weeks ago. I noticed they really took off and when I had a look today was pleasantly surprised to see how well they were growing. Even a cute little nebari forming already. I'm using osmocote, and alternating Charlie Carp and Seasol weekly directly to pond.
