Another feedback topic..

Picked up 2 large maples yesterday from a local nursery, I was eyeing them off last year, sitting well at the back of there growing yard, just slowly growing away. Today when i was there, the owner sold me both, $60 for the large one, $20 for the smaller one, so I couldnt resist, he was going to charge me $140 for 1 , this time last year.
I'd love to turn at least one into a bonsai, i'd absolutely love to hear all your thoughts.. There a little butchered, seemed to of chopped off middle leader a long time ago, and there's heaps of branches now coming out as you can see.
Just wondering if you can see any potential bonsai there from any of them, or would it be best kept/trained as a feature in my japanese insipred garden, was considering doing a huge maple backdrop with a semi-bonsai shape feel.
the large one is taller then 6 foot total, huge trunks on them both... Had a bag egg with a Norwegian spruce last week when styling, so im a little nervous to attack these big boys, one main reason being there's no lower branch structure, probably looking at a foot or so untill they start to form.
p.s - they seem to be 'healthly', lots of leaves forming right now.
