Trident Cuttings

No pics to show but found this quite interesting. This season was my first time propagating cutting from my tridents. One of them is approx 20yrs and sits about a metre tall... the other is about 9yrs and hits the 40cm mark. Anyway took cuttings from both at exactly the same time, used the same rooting hormone and planted in the same mix. All of the cuttings were placed into the same propagating box. Well anyway the cuttings from the younger tree started to leaf out about 2 weeks ago. And the cuttings from the older tree are only just starting to show signs of bud swell. All of the cuttings that I took from both trees were the same length and thickness...so go figure...? Really not sure why they both didn't pop at the same time.

Thoughts...?
