Looking for the best book?

OK, so I'm looking for a book (either soft, hard, or digital) that gives me MORE than shape names, and how to mix soil, and how to repot... I want one that tells me how to go from seed to I need more than one friend to help me move the tree! Formulas, theory, history, traditional, new age, something that answers darn near all the questions! Like how big of a pot or planter should one let a tree live in to bulk up, and for ruffly how long?
And yes I know it will probably be more $$$ but I'm tired of getting generic entry level books!

I'm not sure that it exists mate, so far I've not realy come across a book that covers every facet of the art. Your best bet, would be these forums most likely, or as phantom said, your local club

Smokey…You woud have to go a long way to beat John Naka's "Bonsai Techniques" 1
and Bonsai Techniques 2 as you progress. You would be able to find them both on E Bay.
You will find you will refer to them constantly even when OD- ing on all the up to date internet information.

I'm pretty sure that you could pick up a hard or soft cover in the States, not sure about the digital version but then again I am, (the digital version does not accept great bookmarks between the pages like mine which is the ticket for the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo. Also the pages don't go all nice and soft with time on the digital one.

Both mentioned books, or should that be "all three", are without a doubt the best "Instructional" type books available, well IMHO only I guess. Check out EBay, as they all show up from time to time.

The pages of my Naka books are really nice and soft.

I agree with the post above that recommends Debora Korreshoffs book. perhaps you can get a second hand copy on Amazon .com.

My mate gave me a book called The Complete Book of Bonsai A practical guide to the art & cultivation of bonsai by Harry Tomlinson.

I haven't done any reading yet but I have had a flick through and it look to be pretty good, over 450 specially commissioned colour photos, over 300 bonsai trees and shrubs described with over 100 of them in a full colour photographic catalogue (species guide) and a compendium of trees and shrubs, 224 pages.
